We have never been closer to finding a cure for myeloma. These are exciting times in research, and, guided by the Aurelia Research Grant Funding Strategy Myeloma Canada is proud to fund Canadian myeloma research that is designed to help improve and extend the lives for Canadians with myeloma.
Myeloma Canada supports only high-impact research through funds raised via community initiatives and charitable donations, as well as through strategic partnerships with like-minded organizations.

What We Fund
We support myeloma research in two main ways: through competitive research grants and through collaborative partnerships with other organizations.
Competitive Project-Based Grants
Myeloma Canada’s Competitive Project-Based Grants fund innovative research that tackles key priorities in myeloma diagnosisThe process of identifying a disease by its signs and symptoms., treatment, care, and long-term outcomes in Canada.
2026 Aldo Del Col Research Grant
Named in honour of Myeloma Canada’s co-founder, this grant provides $150,000 over one or two years. Projects funded through this grant may focus on:
- Developing Canadian-made treatments like CAR T-cell therapy or ready-to-use immunotherapies
- Using biomarkers and real-world patient data to improve disease monitoring, access to care, treatment standards, and to identify gaps or inequities in the healthcare system
- Enhancing clinical research and healthcare delivery through studies on quality of life, treatment costs, and how best to use new and existing therapies in everyday healthcare
Collaborative Co-Funding Partnerships
In addition to competitive grants, Myeloma Canada supports research through partnerships with other charities, non-profits, institutions, and industry organizations whose goals align with the funding priorities.
Multiple Myeloma March (MMM) Fund-Sharing Partnership
Charitable partners linked to Canadian treatment centres or universities can receive up to 50% of a local March’s net proceeds to support local research. Full details. Application form.
Equally Co-Funded Grants
Myeloma Canada co-funds research with other charities or non-profits, ensuring all projects follow a rigorous review and align with shared goals.
Strategic Industry Partnerships
Pharmaceutical industry partners can collaborate through competitive grants (reviewed by the IRRC) or non-competitive projects (like real-world studies) that align with the funding priorities and uphold strong scientific standards.
Philanthropic Research Grants
Major or planned gifts to Myeloma Canada can be directed toward specific research areas, institutions, or initiatives. Myeloma Canada works with donors to align their goals with the funding priorities, ensuring all supported projects are thoroughly reviewed by the IRRC for scientific quality and impact.
