Supporting the Research that Matters Most

We have never been closer to finding a cure for myeloma. These are exciting times in research, and, guided by the Aurelia Research Grant Funding Strategy Myeloma Canada is proud to fund Canadian myeloma research that is designed to help improve and extend the lives for Canadians with myeloma.

Myeloma Canada supports only high-impact research through funds raised via community initiatives and charitable donations, as well as through strategic partnerships with like-minded organizations.

What We Fund

We support myeloma research in two main ways: through competitive research grants and through collaborative partnerships with other organizations.

Competitive Project-Based Grants

Myeloma Canada’s Competitive Project-Based Grants fund innovative research that tackles key priorities in myeloma diagnosis, treatment, care, and long-term outcomes in Canada.

2026 Aldo Del Col Research Grant

Named in honour of Myeloma Canada’s co-founder, this grant provides $150,000 over one or two years. Projects funded through this grant may focus on:

  • Developing Canadian-made treatments like CAR T-cell therapy or ready-to-use immunotherapies
  • Using biomarkers and real-world patient data to improve disease monitoring, access to care, treatment standards, and to identify gaps or inequities in the healthcare system
  • Enhancing clinical research and healthcare delivery through studies on quality of life, treatment costs, and how best to use new and existing therapies in everyday healthcare

Dr Andrew R Belch MEET Grant for Young Myeloma Investigators

In recognition of Dr Andrew Belch’s outstanding lifetime achievements and mentoring of young researchers in the field of multiple myeloma, Myeloma Canada, under the vision of our co-founder Aldo Del Col, established the Dr Andrew R Belch Myeloma Education and Enriched Training (MEET) Grant program for young myeloma investigators in 2019.

MEET grants are intended to support recipients’ conference registration/participation fees, travel costs, and per diem (lodging, meals, incidental) expenses.

Collaborative Co-Funding Partnerships

In addition to competitive grants, Myeloma Canada supports research through partnerships with other charities, non-profits, institutions, and industry organizations whose goals align with the funding priorities.
