5 Tips to Boost Your Myeloma Canada Ride Fundraising
Fundraising doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Whether you’re a first-time rider or a seasoned cyclist, these five simple tips can help you meet your goal.
1. Share your “why”
Why are you riding? Maybe you’re cycling in memory of a loved one, or in support of someone currently living with myeloma. Whatever your reason, share it. Personal stories are far more compelling than statistics, and they move people to act. Don’t be shy. Let your network know what this means to you.
2. Ask directly
A general post on social media is a good start, but a personal message is even more powerful. Reach out to friends and family individually with a specific ask, such as: “Would you consider donating $25 to support my ride?” A direct ask is much harder to scroll past.
3. Create a deadline
Urgency works. Use your event date as a natural countdown and remind your supporters how much time is left. “Only 5 days left to donate!” gives people a reason to act now rather than later.
4. Always include your fundraising link

Every time you post or message someone, include your personal fundraising link. The fewer clicks it takes to donate, the better. Make it as easy as possible for people to support you.
5. Post progress updates
Share milestones like “I’m 60% to my goal!” to show momentum. People love to be part of something that’s gaining traction.
Don’t overthink it. Just start!
Even one message or one post today can kickstart your fundraising. Every dollar you raise funds vital myeloma research, education, and support programs for Canadians living with myeloma.
Nuts and Bolts of Offline Fundraising
Collecting Offline Donations

While people can donate online directly to your fundraising page, you can also collect offline donations. Download the offline donation form to track all cash or cheque donations. If time permits, send in your form and donations to Myeloma Canada prior to the Ride (your fundraising meter will increase faster) or bring your form with you on the day of the event.

Promote Your Ride Offline
Online promotion is great, but it’s not right for every situation. If you would like to promote your event IRL, print out our poster and ask your local community centre, library, or cycling club if you can post on their bulletin board.
Thank you!
We know it can feel intimidating to ask for donations, but each ask is appreciated. Your hard work is meaningful, because the money you raise goes towards innovative research, life-changing support programs, empowering educational materials, and other critical programs that help people who live with myeloma.
