Two new drugs funded in Quebec!

This month, two exciting new drug funding announcements for Quebec were made by the Institut national d’excellence en santé et en services sociaux (INESSS).

Xpovio (selinexor) a treatment for relapsed-refractory myeloma has been recommended for reimbursement and funding is now available for the following two indications:

  • Xpovio (selinexor) in combination with bortezomib and dexamethasone (XVd), for individuals with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma, whose disease is refractory to lenalidomide, an anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody (daratumumab or isatuximab) and for whom carfilzomib is not an option.
  • Xpovio (selinexor) in combination with dexamethasone (Xd), for individuals with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma who began treatment with selinexor, bortezomib, and dexamethasone (XVd) in a hospital setting, and who had to discontinue bortezomib because of serious intolerance or a new contraindication.

Rezurock (belumosudil) is a treatment for graft-versus-host disease, and is now available for reimbursement to:

  • patients 12 years and older with chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) following an allogenic stem cell transplant, after failure of at least two prior lines of systemic therapy.

Selinexor is already widely available to patients in other provinces and territories, while Quebec is the first province to provide funding for belumosudil. We will continue to provide updates to our community when belumosudil becomes available in other jurisdictions.
