Your gift allows us to better serve the myeloma community

Every day, 11 Canadians are diagnosed with myeloma. Although myeloma remains relatively unknown, its prevalence is increasing. Your donation helps us fulfill our promise to our community: to improve the lives and empower all Canadians affected by myeloma, accelerate access to the best care, while supporting the pursuit of its cure and prevention.

Monthly giving

Monthly giving

In 2022, it was estimated that every day, 11 Canadians were diagnosed with multiple myeloma, and the number is rising steadily. With an aging population and improvements in diagnosis and treatment, the number of Canadians living with myeloma is also increasing.

Your monthly donation extends your impact all year long. For as little as the cost of a daily latte, the effects of your monthly donation go a long way in furthering our promise and commitment to the Canadian myeloma community.

Donate in lieu of flowers

Families often ask for their loved one to be commemorated through a donation to a charity of choice in lieu of flowers. If you would like to have donations made to Myeloma Canada, we can readily provide donation envelopes and brochures about the organization for the service.

Giving in celebration

Mark your celebration by inviting families and friends to donate to Myeloma Canada.

A birthday, wedding, anniversary, or other special milestone can be an occasion to not only celebrate, but also to support the myeloma community! In lieu of receiving gifts, ask your guests to make a donation to Myeloma Canada on your behalf.

If you are hosting an event in support of our organization, we can send you branded merchandise such as bracelets, pins, and flags. We can also create a private event page on our website to make it easy for your guests to donate and simple for you to monitor the total funds raised…in real time!

If you have any questions or would like more detail on how you can make myeloma matter on your special day, please contact Michelle Oana, Director of Development and Community Relations, at [email protected] or by telephone at 514-421‑2242 (toll-free: 1-888-798‑5771).

Greeting cards

Give the gift that truly touches their heart.

Send the gift of love and hope with Myeloma Canada greeting cards. With a minimum donation of $25 to Myeloma Canada, a beautiful greeting card will be sent on your behalf to your special someone.

What could possibly be better than sending and receiving a gift that has the power to change lives, says “I care,” and holds hope for the future?

The lovely gerbera card below was created specifically for Myeloma Canada by David Senior, an incredibly talented illustrator/designer. David very generously donated his design as a way of honouring those impacted by myeloma. The message is open and universal so you can send it for the holidays as well as for any occasion you’d like to recognize.

Give the gift of hope. Help us improve the lives of thousands of Canadians impacted by myeloma and support clinical research so that a cure may be found.

Planned giving

Planned giving

Reduce taxes and leave a lasting gift to the myeloma community. A monetary donation not only supports Myeloma Canada’s promise and helps raise awareness of this debilitating disease, it can also provide you with financial benefits.

Depending on the amount of your donation, you may be able to claim a federal and provincial or territorial non-refundable tax credit of up to 53% when you file your return.

Let us help you make donating to Myeloma Canada an easy and rewarding experience. For more information or to answer any questions you may have, please contact Muriel Ingrassia, Director of Operations, at [email protected] or tel: 514-421‑2242 (toll-free: 1-888-798‑5771).

Gifts in wills

By leaving a gift to Myeloma Canada in your will, you can help us in our commitment to improve the lives of Canadians impacted by myeloma.

In 2000, the life expectancy of a person with myeloma was three to five years. Thanks to breakthroughs in research and the development of new, innovative drug therapies and treatments, the average life expectancy of someone with myeloma has increased, with many living 10 years or longer. Your bequest could help advance research and bring us one step closer toward a cure.

For more information or to notify us that you have named Myeloma Canada as a beneficiary in your will, please contact Muriel Ingrassia at [email protected].

Gift of securities

A gift of shares, stocks, or securities is an easy and cost-effective way to support Myeloma Canada and our Canadian myeloma community.

Supporting charitable organizations is a valued and respected part of our Canadian society. To encourage the gift of shares, the federal government has simplified the process by removing capital gains tax on shares and stocks donated.

Donate your shares to Myeloma Canada in a simple electronic transfer. Once received, we immediately issue a tax receipt for the fair market value. If deductions cannot be used for that calendar year, you can carry the remainder over the next five years.

If shares have appreciated in value at the time of transfer to Myeloma Canada, you pay no tax on the gain in value and still receive a charitable tax receipt for the highest value of the shares.

Consult your financial advisor to learn more about donating your shares, stocks, or securities to Myeloma Canada. You can also contact Muriel Ingrassia at [email protected] for more information.

Payroll giving

Payroll giving is a great way to support Myeloma Canada as all donations are tax free.

Payroll deduction allows you to contribute a small amount from each pay cheque, adjusted to your needs. To donate through payroll deduction, please contact your company’s payroll department. Donations made through payroll deduction will appear on your T4 slip.

If you are an employer and would like to enable payroll giving for your employees, please contact Muriel Ingrassia, Myeloma Canada’s Director of Operations at [email protected].

Employer matched giving

Employer matched giving is an easy and exciting way to get your workplace and colleagues involved in supporting our cause.

An employer matched giving program is when an employer matches the total or a portion of the total funds an employee has raised or donated to a charity. Check with your employer to see if they have a matched giving policy or would like to put one in place.

Contact Muriel Ingrassia, Myeloma Canada’s Director of Operations, at [email protected] for more information.

You get this life-changing diagnosis and you don’t know where to go. That’s why Myeloma Canada is so important. They make sure our patient community stays connected and educated. Without them, I would have felt very alone and isolated following my diagnosis… I wouldn’t have known where to turn. No one should have to go through this disease alone.
