COVID-19 can spread at your gathering, event or celebration, even if everyone’s fully vaccinated.

Although COVID-19 vaccines approved for use in Canada can protect against severe illness, no vaccine is 100% effective. We now know that:

• protection from COVID-19 vaccines may decrease over time
• fully vaccinated people can still be infected and spread the virus to others

This is why practising public health measures continues to be important to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. They may also help reduce the spread of other respiratory illnesses like the flu. Public health measures are most effective when layered together and used alongside vaccination.
