Cr\u00e9\u00e9e par My\u00e9lome Canada\u00a0gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la vision\u00a0de son cofondateur Aldo Del Col, la bourse\u00a0EFCM\u00a0rend hommage \u00e0 l\u2019h\u00e9ritage du\u00a0Dr\u202fAndrew\u00a0R.\u00a0Belch, clinicien, chercheur et mentor estim\u00e9, en soutenant la prochaine g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de chercheurs dans le domaine du my\u00e9lome.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La bourse&nbsp;EFCM&nbsp;offre un&nbsp;appui&nbsp;financier&nbsp;\u00e0 de&nbsp;jeunes chercheurs pour&nbsp;leur permettre de&nbsp;participer&nbsp;\u00e0&nbsp;des&nbsp;conf\u00e9rences scientifiques&nbsp;d\u2019envergure.&nbsp;Ils ont ainsi l\u2019occasion de&nbsp;pr\u00e9senter&nbsp;leurs&nbsp;travaux sur la sc\u00e8ne internationale,&nbsp;de d\u00e9velopper&nbsp;leurs r\u00e9seaux professionnels et&nbsp;de d\u00e9couvrir&nbsp;les&nbsp;plus r\u00e9centes&nbsp;avanc\u00e9es dans le domaine. Les mod\u00e8les actuels&nbsp;reproduisent difficilement la complexit\u00e9 de la&nbsp;maladie,&nbsp;ce qui limite&nbsp;l\u2019\u00e9tude&nbsp;approfondie&nbsp;et freine le d\u00e9veloppement de nouveaux&nbsp;traitements.&nbsp;Ariene s\u2019efforce de cr\u00e9er des conditions de culture o\u00f9 les cellules my\u00e9lomateuses survivent et se comportent davantage comme elles le feraient dans l\u2019organisme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00ab\u202fMa participation au Congr\u00e8s de l&rsquo;<em>European&nbsp;Hematology&nbsp;Association<\/em> (EHA)&nbsp;\u00e0 Milan a \u00e9t\u00e9 un moment&nbsp;d\u00e9cisif&nbsp;dans mon parcours&nbsp;en tant que chercheuse sp\u00e9cialiste du my\u00e9lome&nbsp;multiple.&nbsp;L\u2019occasion de pr\u00e9senter mes&nbsp;travaux&nbsp;devant&nbsp;un public international a&nbsp;permis d\u2019accro\u00eetre&nbsp;la visibilit\u00e9 de la recherche multiple\u202f:&nbsp;les&nbsp;atteintes&nbsp;osseuses.&nbsp;Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 80\u202f% des patients&nbsp;d\u00e9veloppent&nbsp;des&nbsp;l\u00e9sions&nbsp;osseuses&nbsp;qui peuvent&nbsp;entra\u00eener&nbsp;des fractures, des&nbsp;atteintes&nbsp;nerveuses et des douleurs chroniques.&nbsp;Gr\u00e2ce aux technologies&nbsp;de s\u00e9quen\u00e7age g\u00e9n\u00e9tique,&nbsp;Melika&nbsp;\u00e9tudie&nbsp;comment le my\u00e9lome perturbe le d\u00e9veloppement des cellules osseuses, dans le but de concevoir&nbsp;des traitements plus cibl\u00e9s et au&nbsp;Congr\u00e8s&nbsp;de l\u2019EHA \u00e0 Milan.&nbsp;J\u2019ai ainsi pu&nbsp;\u00e9largir consid\u00e9rablement mon r\u00e9seau professionnel et&nbsp;approfondir ma compr\u00e9hension septembre, Toronto)]<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La&nbsp;Dre\u202fPelland&nbsp;a men\u00e9&nbsp;une \u00e9tude concr\u00e8te sur l\u2019utilisation d\u2019anticorps bisp\u00e9cifiques ciblant l&rsquo;antig\u00e8ne de maturation des cellules B (BCMA), notamment le&nbsp;teclistamab&nbsp;et l\u2019elranatamab,&nbsp;en Colombie-Britannique. Ces traitements se sont r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9s tr\u00e8s efficaces chez les personnes atteintes d\u2019un my\u00e9lome r\u00e9cidivant ou r\u00e9sistant \u00e0 d\u2019autres traitements. Sa recherche \u00e9value leur efficacit\u00e9 en dehors des essais cliniques, fournissant ainsi des donn\u00e9es pr\u00e9cieuses pour orienter la pratique clinique quotidienne.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00ab Je suis extr\u00eamement reconnaissante d\u2019avoir re\u00e7u la bourse&nbsp;EFCM du Dr Andrew R.&nbsp;Belch, qui m\u2019a&nbsp;permis de pr\u00e9senter mes travaux&nbsp;lors de la 22<sup>e<\/sup>&nbsp;r\u00e9union annuelle de&nbsp;l\u2019<em>International&nbsp;Myeloma&nbsp;Society<\/em>.&nbsp;Cette occasion favorise les \u00e9changes au sein des communaut\u00e9s m\u00e9dicales et scientifiques, qui \u0153uvrent ensemble \u00e0 optimiser les traitements du my\u00e9lome.\u202f\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ben J. Ses travaux examinent les facteurs g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques et immunitaires qui influencent la r\u00e9ponse au traitement, dans le but d\u2019am\u00e9liorer les strat\u00e9gies th\u00e9rapeutiques personnalis\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00ab\u202fC\u2019est&nbsp;pour moi&nbsp;un immense honneur&nbsp;d\u2019\u00eatre r\u00e9cipiendaire de&nbsp;la bourse&nbsp;EFCM du Dr Andrew R.&nbsp;Belch.&nbsp;Ce&nbsp;soutien me&nbsp;permettra d\u2019assister \u00e0 la conf\u00e9rence&nbsp;2025&nbsp;de&nbsp;l\u2019IMS&nbsp;et au 3<sup>e<\/sup>&nbsp;atelier sur la g\u00e9nomique de&nbsp;l\u2019IMS. Elle&nbsp;y&nbsp;ajoute de minuscules mol\u00e9cules hautement cibl\u00e9es,&nbsp;appel\u00e9es&nbsp;nanocorps,&nbsp;pour aider ces cellules NK \u00e0&nbsp;rep\u00e9rer et \u00e0&nbsp;d\u00e9truire plus efficacement les cellules&nbsp;my\u00e9lomateuses. Ces&nbsp;nanocorps&nbsp;se fixent sur une&nbsp;cible&nbsp;appel\u00e9e BCMA, pr\u00e9sente&nbsp;\u00e0 la surface des&nbsp;cellules&nbsp;my\u00e9lomateuses,&nbsp;ce qui rend le&nbsp;traitement plus pr\u00e9cis et plus puissant. Contrairement aux mod\u00e8les plus anciens, son syst\u00e8me utilise des souris dont le syst\u00e8me immunitaire est intact, ce qui le rend&nbsp;beaucoup plus repr\u00e9sentatif de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 humaine. Ce&nbsp;mod\u00e8le&nbsp;permet d\u2019observer comment les cellules CAR-T interagissent avec les cellules canc\u00e9reuses et avec&nbsp;les d\u00e9fenses&nbsp;naturelles&nbsp;de l\u2019organisme.
