Elle engendre une douleur, un enflement et un endommagement de l\u2019os autour des alv\u00e9oles dentaires. Elle se manifeste par les \u00e9tats suivants : n\u00e9crose ou perte osseuse pouvant aboutir \u00e0 la perte des dents, extr\u00e9mit\u00e9s pointues de l\u2019os expos\u00e9, becs-de-perroquet, petits spicules d&rsquo;os ou os mort pouvant s\u2019\u00e9chapper. Une d\u00e9finition de cas est \u22653 mois avec un os expos\u00e9 sans gu\u00e9rison.
